Thomson, Annabelle Mabel Herbert

Annabelle Mabel Thomson, 65, of Clearfield, died July 16, 1979 at
Greater Community Hospital in Creston. The funeral was July 18 at the
United Methodist Church in Clearfield, the Rev Bill Hasenyager
officiating.
The music was by Marcella Jensen, pianist, and Donald Jensen and
Jonelle Smith. Casketbearers were Don Smith, Dale Juergens, Maurice
Hanson, Dwight Matheny, Byron Hefmeister, Ed Butler, John R Butler
and Wayne Herbert. Flower bearers were Dr and Mrs Mel Pence and Mr
and Mrs Vernie Horton, Interment was in Clearfield Cemetery.

The daughter of Roy Joseph and Mabel Smith Herbert, Mrs Thomson
was born in Cass County, Iowa July 2, 1914. She attended Pymosa No.
3 School and graduated from Atlantic high school in 1932.
She taught in rural schools six years, then married Vale Ulan Thomson,
DVM July 28, 1938 at the home of her parents. They lived in Gravity
four years before Vale served four years in World War II. After that they
moved to Clearfield in 1946.

She is survived by her husband, of the home, a daughter, Jo Ann Avey,
Princeton, Mo., a son John Ulan Thomson, D.V.M., Clearfield, daughter-
in-law, Kay Thomson; son-in-law James Avey, three grandsons, Dan
and Dave Thomson, and Josh Avey; a granddaughter, Holly Avey, and
two sisters, Mrs. Dale (Irene) Butler, and Mrs. Alfred (Ada) Jensen,
Atlantic.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Harry in 1903
and Joe in 1974.

She was a member of the Methodist Church. She was a member of the
United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Entrenous and
Merry Matrons Clubs, Iowa and National Veterinary Medical Auxiliaries,
and past president of the Southwest Iowa Veterinary Medical Auxiliary.
She was a receptionist, bookkeeper and veterinary office or field
assistant for her husband.
