We are informed that John Gillet died in Atlantic City, one day last week. He will be remembered as one of the pioneers of Clayton county, residing for many years near Garnavillo, and having ploughed the first furrow in the county.

He sold out and moved in 1875. We are without particulars of his death, but its announcement will bring sorrow to the hearts of his many friends here, who knew him long and appreciated his many sterling qualities.
