March 21, 1907 - Carroll Times - Last Friday there passed to the great beyond a worthy and respected resident of Eden township, where she resided for fully thirty years, Mrs. Ann Morgan, widow of J.W. Morgan dec'd. About three weeks ago the aged lady fell while walking across the yard. She broke the left limb at the hip, an injury so serious for one of her age that the shock proved too great, she grew feebler in spite of the tender care of her daughter, Mrs. John James, at whose home she resided, and of her son, Evor Morgan, both of whom cared for the beloved mother.

Departed Ann Reese, was born in the shire of Commaman, Wales, February 2, 1835. She came to this country with her parents who settled in Illinois. She was married to Charles Charles at Geneseo, Illinois, in 1857 and one son was born to them, Joseph Charles, now of Rock Island, Illinois, who survives her, and was present at the funeral.

Her first husband died about 1870 and in 1877 at Henry, Illinois, she became the wife of Jacob W. Morgan. They came to Carroll county, Iowa, the same year, settling in Eden township. A son and daughter were born to them who survive their mother as stated above.

Mr. and Mrs. Morgan were among the most highly respected residents of Eden township and created a fine home from the raw prairie. When the husband died in the fall of 1900, Mrs. Morgan continued to reside on the farm with her daughter, now Mrs. John James, and their son, Evor Morgan, who are among the progressive, highly respected citizens of their locality.

The funeral was conducted Sunday by Rev. Shug of the M.E. church, Dedham, and interment took place at Elba cemetery, Eden township. Friends and neighbors in large numbers attended, to show their last sad respects to one whom they had so favorably known for so many years. The bereaved ones desire to return their sincere acknowledgements of appreciation to all these good kind neighbors and friends who so assiduously helped care for their dear departed in her last illness and in every way endeavored to be of service in the last acts performed before consigning the sacred dust of the lamented mother to Mother Earth.
