Funeral Mass for Josie Elaine Underberg, 84

Funeral mass was held Monday, August 31 for Josie Elaine Underberg, 84, who died Friday, August 28, 1998, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.

Father Terry A. Roder was the celebrant for the 10:30 a.m. funeral mass held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dedham. Eucharistic ministers were Rosemary Paulsen, Donna Ankenbauer, Mary Ann Irlmeier and Robert Sporrer. Dale Sporrer was lector. Donna Grossman served as organist.

Interment was in the Dedham Catholic Cemetery. Bearers were Jim Gustafson, Doug Pevestorf, Marty Paulsen, Tim Tuel, Lyle Vollmuth and John Irlbeck. Honorary bearers were Lloyd Wood, Rodger Tuel, Val Tuel, and Herman Whitaker. The Flower committee was Mary and Rosemary Paulsen, Lyle and Vicki Vollmuth, and Tim and Denise Tuel.

JOSIE ELAINE UNDERBERG

Josie Elaine Underberg was born August 10, 1914, in Coon Rapids, the daughter of Leonard and Musetta House Tuel. She grew up and attended school in Coon Rapids. She was united in marriage to Charles John Underberg on July 28, 1941. in Maryville, Missouri, and they lived in the Dedham and Storm Lake areas. They were in the hog buying and feed business and also enjoyed hunting, camping, and fishing together.

Following the death of her husband, Josie moved to the Atlantic in 1987. She was a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic.

Josie passed away Friday, August 28, 1998, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital at the age of 84.

Survivors include her brother, Leonard H. Tuel and his wife, Ruby, of Atlantic; three nephews: Val Tuel and his wife, Wanda, of Coon Rapids; Rodger Tuel and his wife, Nancy, of Berthoud, Colorado; and Tim Tuel and his wife, Denise, of Shelby; two nieces: Lois Whitaker and her husband, Herman, of Texas; and Vicki Vollmuth and her husband, Lyle, of Omaha, Nebraska; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; two brothers, Reginald and Howard; and a niece, Sandra Jo Martin.
