COON RAPIDS - William Gute, 85, of Coon Rapids, a retired farmer, died Thursday evening, Aug. 29, at Stewart Memorial Hospital, Lake City, where he had been a patient for two weeks. He had been in failing health for about a year.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Christian Church in Coon Rapids, with the Rev. Donald Cramblit officiating and burial in Union Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ohde Funeral Home in Coon Rapids after 2 p.m. Friday.

Pallbearers will be Gary Kopsaka, Neil Gute, Arnie Lyons, Paul Lyons, Dennis Gravitt and Douglas McComb.

Mr. Gute was born in Carroll County near Dedham on Sept. 7, 1889, a son of Michael and Sylvia Borst Gute. He attended school near his home. On Nov. 15, 1910, he married Rushie Visner and they farmed in the area between Dedham and Coon Rapids until retiring and moving to Coon Rapids in 1961. Mrs. Gute died July 6 of this year.

Seven children survive, including Frank of Lohrville, Mrs. Eldon( (Isabele) of Churdan, Mrs. Louis (Edith) Kopaska of Guthrie Center, Clarence, Mrs. Harry (Clara) Lyons Jr. and Mrs. James (Ruth) Gravitt of Coon Rapids and Mrs. Harold (Wilma) McComb of Grand Junction.

Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Jake (Anna) Duewell of Dedham.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Gute was preceded in death by a grandson, a great-granddaughter and two sisters.
