John A. C. Taylor, who has been a resident of Calhoun County forty-six years, passed away at his home in the north part of Lake City, Monday, April 6, 1931, at the age of 79 years, 4 months, and 15 days. He was born in Grant County, Indiana, November 22, 1851. He was the son of William James and Rebecca Jane Taylor. At the age of eight he came with his parents and brother to Montgomery County, Iowa, where he lived until coming to Calhoun County in 1885. He was married September 11, 1872, to Effie S. Wilkins and to this union were born two daughters, Bertha E. Ripley and Adelia Taylor. Besides theres two daughters, they reared two children as their own, John W. and Mary Luelva Taylor, who were his brother’s children, left orphans by the death of their mother at the age of five years and five weeks. He with his wife united with the Methodist Church of Lake City in 1911. He was a loving husband and father, a kind friend and neighbor. He leaves to mourn his going, his daughters, Mrs. Oscar Ripley and Adella Taylor of Lake City, Mrs. Fred Koppelman of Auburn, Iowa, his nephew, John W. Taylor of McIntosh, So. Dak.; one brother, Silas Taylor of Auburn, Ia.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also a number of nieces and nephews who loved him like a father. Mr. Taylor with his wife united with the Methodist Church of Lake City in 1911. He was a member of the I. O. O. F. and Rebekah lodges. He was a loving husband and father, a kind friend and neighbor. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. L. Ralston in the Methodist Church, Wednesday, April 8. The body was interred at Cottonwood Cemetery, the I.O.O.F. having charge of the services. Those in attendance from out of town were John W. Taylor of McIntosh, So. Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Moad and Victor and Kenneth Moad of Anita, Iowa; Mrs. E. E. Hodgeson of Sioux City, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. John F. Taylor and Mrs. J. Whitney of Villisca, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Taylor, Bernice and Eletha of Auburn, Iowa.
