Ivan Thede Reported Missing In Action. Mr. and Mrs. Thede this morning were notified by the War Department that their son, Tech. Sgt. Ivan W. Thede, has been missing over Holland since September 17. Lake City Graphic, October 5, 1944

Sgt. Ivan Thede of L.C. Reported Killed in Action. Son of Wm. Thede’s has been missing since September 17. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Thede were notified Friday morning by the War Department that their son, T/Sgt. Ivan W. Thede, was killed in action over Holland. He had previously been reported as missing since September 17. Thede, who was 23 years old, was on duty with the First Air Force and nine months of his early years of service had been overseas. Other than his parents, his family survivors are three sisters and two brothers; Mrs. Frank (Gladys) Alcox, and Mrs. Martin (Dorothy) Devries of Lake City; Mrs. Floyd (Lois) Bowie of Carroll; Sgt. Eugene Thede with the Army in France and Raymond Thede of Lake City; his grandmother Mrs. J. B. McCrary of Carroll. Lake City Graphic, October 26, 1944.
