Dumont - Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Dumont Reformed Church in Dumont with Pastors Jeff and April Fiet officiating. Burial will be in the Dumont Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Dumont.

Betty A. Weiland, 81, of Dumont, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 29, 2008) at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.

She was born Jan. 18, 1927, in rural Butler County, to Ray and Leola (Hutchinson) Hahn. Betty attended Bristow schools, where her and Paul always shared the lead roles together in the school plays, and graduated from the Bristow High School in 1944.

She married her high school sweetheart, Paul E. Weiland, on June 18, 1946, in Bristow. Betty and Paul spent their married life farming four miles north of Bristow on what is known as "Weilands Corner." This true farm couple were rarely seen without each other. She taught Sunday school for many years at the EUB Church in Bristow and was a choir member and very active in Ladies Aid.

Betty is survived by her husband, Paul Weiland of Dumont; son, Jerry and wife, Virginia Weiland, of Hiawatha; daughter, Jerilyn Miller of Forest City; granddaughter, Connie and husband, John Gogla, of Cedar Falls; granddaughter, Cher Nielsen and friend, Jim Aldrich, of Alexander; granddaughter, Shannon Miller of Alexander; eight great-grandchildren, John Jason, Eric and Meagan Gogla, Kendra, Zachary, Chance and Christian Nielsen and Cally Miller; sister, Maxine Chestnut of Clarksville; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Mark Weiland; son-in-law, Virgil Miller; one sister, one brother and a infant brother.
