Tillie Hicken (1917-2008)

DUMONT - Tillie Hicken, 91, of Dumont, died Friday, Feb. 8, at the Dumont Wellness Center, Dumont.

She was born Jan. 12, 1917, in Dumont, daughter of Wubbo and Hilda Bakker Viet. She married Folkert Hicken Dec. 22, 1937, in Dumont. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hicken and her husband farmed near Aplington.

Survived by: two daughters, Donna (John) Dorsey of Hampton and Lois (Ray) Robbins of Dallas; a son, Robert "Bob" of Dumont; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Loretta Viet of Dumont; 12 great-grand-chilrden; six step-great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and four step-great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: four sisters, Alice Siems, Grace DeVries, Martha Wubbena and Jennie Gronewold; four brothers, Peter, Herman, Wubbo and John; and a stepgreat-grandson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Dumont Reformed Church, with burial in the Dumont Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Dumont.
