E. J. Young opened up in the furniture business, in February, 1881. He is a native of Oswego county, New York, born June 15, 1858. He is a son of Fredericka and Sarah (Hawthorne) Young. When he was seven years of age, his parents moved west, and settled in Shell Rock, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. In February, 1881, he embarked in the furniture trade, and now carries a fine, and well-assorted stock of goods. He was married, September 27, 1882, to Miss Jennie B. Dean, of Waverly, Iowa. His parents are living in Shell Rock.
