Myrna Mardella Holcomb
October 22, 1939 - November 1, 2015Myrna Mardella Holcomb, a daughter of Russell and Lura (Howe) Holcomb, was born on October 22, 1939, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. For a short time, she and her family lived with her grandfather before moving to Laurens, Iowa, for a year. Then, for another three years, they lived near Virgin Lake close to Ruthven, Iowa, and later south of Dickens. Since birth, Myrna had had several medical problems which at the age of 10 left her unable to walk by herself. After attending Gillett Grove Consolidated School for one year, she transferred to the Seventh Day Adventist School in Ruthven where she continued her schooling for another six years.
After completing her education, Myrna continued living with her parents on the farm south of Dickens for another thirteen years before moving to Spencer in 1965 following her father's death. A member of the United Methodist Church in Ruthven and Spencer, she enjoyed her church activities as well as her Farm Bureau membership and traveling with her mother in their camper.
Preceded in death by her parents, Myrna passed away at the Longhouse Residence in Spencer, Iowa, on Sunday, November 1, 2015, at the age of 76. She is survived by many cousins and friends.
GRAVESIDE SERVICES: 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at the Poland Township Cemetery in Marathon, Pastor Kay Hooper, officiating.
VISITATION: None as she wished.
INTERMENT: Poland Township Cemetery, Marathon, Iowa.
