1889-BERTHA AMENDT -1975

Bertha Wilhelmina Dorothea Amendt, nee Felten, the daughter
of Christ and Bertha Pingel Felten, was bom July 30, 1889 in Spring Township, Cherokee County, near Peterson, la. She was educated in Spring Township School near her childhood home.
She was united in marriage Febr. 18, 1909 to William Amendt. The couple farmed near Peterson until his death
in 1951. Since 1952 she had lived in Peterson.
She was baptized, confirmed married and a member of St. John's Church of Rural Peterson. She was also a member of the women's society.
She passed away at Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee on Dec. 17, 1975 at the age of 86.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, one brother, Christ Felten Jr. and two sisters; Mrs. William
(Martha) Kracht and Mrs. John (Alma) Rosenbrook.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mrs. Melvin
(Birdline) Straub of Everly, Mrs. Leonard (Mabel) Luetkeman
of Amelia, Mrs. Karl (Leona) Ehrhardt of Aurelia, Wilbur Amendt and his wife Delia of Lakefield, Minn; Mrs. Floyd (Berniece) Stewart of Aurelia and Mrs. Myrl (Verniece) Larson of Sutherland; 13 grandchildren. 16 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday Dec. 20th at 1:30
pm at the St. John's United Church of Christ near Peterson
for Mrs. Bertha Amendt. Rev. F. Eugene Whitney was the officiating clergyman. Mrs. Nina Reed, organist,accompanied Mrs. Charles Plagman as she sang "My God and I" and The Old Rugged Cross"

Casket Bearers were: Duane Straub, Dale Luetkeman, Steven
Stewart, Don Luetkeman, Richard Amendt, Dennis Stewart, and Tom Roskens.
In charge of the flower bouquets were Mr. and Mrs. E. N.
Gunnerson and Dr. and Mrs. Carl Brenner.

Ushers were Arnold Brehmer and Richard Kracht.
Burial was made at St. John's Cemetery with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
