Death claimed another Iowa pioneer, Mrs. Francis Smith, mother of Dr. E. F Smith, a prominent surgeon of Storm Lake, who died following a week’s illness at the age of 75 years. Mrs. Smith has lived in Iowa sixty-four years, coming to Dubuque in the early days. She attended Lenox college and was a prominent teacher.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows her name spelled Frances. She was born Jan. 27, 1840 and died Feb. 19, 1915. She is buried in Oakwood Cemetery.
