Vinnie Pearl Edgar, 92, of Obert, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, passed into the presence of the Lord Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, following a brief illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with Dr. Scott D. Edgar officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pearl was born June 1, 1918, to Vinnie A. and William Howell in Hawthorne, Calif. The family later moved to Indiana and then to Sioux City.

On Dec. 5, 1936, she married Ivan A. Edgar in Sioux City. The couple lived and worked in Sioux City until they moved to a farm near Varina, Iowa. In 1939 they moved to Nebraska. They lived on several farms in Northeast Nebraska. In 1952 they moved to the farm near Obert where Pearl lived the remainder of her life.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Maskell, Neb., the Legion Auxiliary in Newcastle, Neb., and the Sunshine Club. She excelled in all things related to homemaking, gardening and flower arranging. She greatly enjoyed Bible study and believed in the power of prayer. She enjoyed doing sewing projects for the Veterans' home and Lutheran Missions. She loved being a farmer's wife and living in the country.

Pearl is survived by her three children, Frank and his wife, Jane, of Lee's Summit, Mo., Richard and his wife Lynne of Waterloo, Neb., and Carolyn (Munch) and her husband, Dennis, of Sioux City; five grandsons; five great-granddaughters; and three great-grandsons; one sister, Dolores Randolph of Savannah, Ill.; two brothers, George Howell of Sioux City, and Ross Howell of Port Angeles, Wash.; and a sister-in-law, Doris Howell of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and one brother.
