Ruth Wogahn, age 89, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Monday, August 19, 2019, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Ruth Irene Wogahn was born on October 11, 1929, in Bellefont, Kansas, to Richard and Anna (Mueller) Lammers. Baptized October 27, 1929, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bellefont, Kansas, by her father, Pastor Richard Lammers, and confirmed there on February 21, 1943, she moved to Nortonville, Kansas, that same month.

After attending Nortonville High School, Ruth graduated in 1947. Next, she enrolled in nurses training at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas, graduating in 1950. In December 1950, Ruth married Herb Evans at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville, Kansas. Her father officiated. To their union, three daughters were born: Karen, Diane, and Kimberly. In 1967, Ruth, with her daughters, moved to Storm Lake, Iowa, where she joined Grace Lutheran Church and began working at the Buena Vista Hospital. Then, on October 26, 1974, she married Paul Wogahn at Grace Lutheran Church. In 1996, she started working for Buena Vista County Public Health.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wogahn; her daughter, Diane; her brothers: Richard, Erwin, and Arthur Lammers; her sister-in-law, Herta Lammers; and her parents, Richard and Anna Lammers. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters and their husbands, Karen and Robert Becker, of Kingston, Washington, and Kim and Kent Wood, of Pocahontas; her stepdaughter and her husband, Jan and Bob Ketchum, of Algona, Iowa; her stepson and his wife, Jim and Ruth Wogahn, of Seward, Nebraska; her grandchildren: Jeff (Jen), Jason (Shauna), and Justin (Marci) Becker, all of Washington State; Amanda (Nick) Kurtz, of Los Angeles, California, Jon (Kelsey) Wood, of Ankeny, Iowa, Matt Wood, of Pocahontas, Iowa, Mike (Erin) Wolter, of Burlington, Iowa, Sara (Dave) Nelson, of Littleton, Colorado, Mark (Amy) Wolter, of Algona, Iowa, Tim (Jen) Wogahn, of Seward, Nebraska, and Dan (Tiffany) Wogahn, of Lincoln, Nebraska; twenty-six great grandchildren and step grandchildren. Undoubtedly, she will be, deeply, missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 23, 2019, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
