Patricia Jo Carter, age 88, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at St. Luke's Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa.

Patricia was born on September 2, 1930, in Marathon, Iowa, to Lowell Burdette and Doris (Hopkins) Thomas. Baptized as a young child at the Methodist Church in Marathon, Iowa, she was raised her paternal grandparents, Jim and Alberta Thomas. She attended first through the twelfth grade at Marathon Consolidated School, graduating in 1948.

As a child, Patricia played the piano and sang with her sister, Beverly, at the Methodist Church in Marathon. During high school, she enjoyed signing in the Glee Club and at church. In addition, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, baking, cooking, crocheting, and keeping a tidy home.

Patricia is survived by her sons, John Carter, Jr., and family of Florida, and Don Rauhauser, Jr., and family of Maryland; her daughter, Deb Rauhauser Didier, and family of North Dakota; her brothers-in-law, Dean Hollesen, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, and Ben and Marilyn Hollesen, and family of Iowa; and Deanna Johnson, and family of Illinois.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents; her sister, Beverly Hollesen; and an infant twin daughter, Jacqueline Carter, who passed at birth; and her daughters, Sherry Rauhauser Rothmeier, of Minnesota, and Linda Rauhauser Lain, of Florida.

Private family services will be held at a later date. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
