Schuler, Patricia "Pat"
July 24, 1926 - January 18, 2019

Surrounded by her loving family, Patricia Schuler, age 92, of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2019, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Born on July 24, 1926, Pat lived her entire life in Storm Lake. On June 7, 1948, she married Tom Schuler, the love of her life. Subsequently, over the next sixteen years, they welcomed eight children into the world.

After graduating from St. Mary’s Catholic High School, Pat attended nursing school and started her career as a Registered Nurse. In addition, she farmed alongside Tom and raised their children…three full time jobs! No wonder she never sat down to rest!

Pat adored Tom and her kids immensely. She and Tom enjoyed golfing, traveling, going to the movies, vacationing with family at Okoboji, and spending their retirement years in Yuma, Arizona. An accomplished golfer who scored two holes-in-one, she enjoyed socializing mostly outside with friends on the golf course. A skilled card player, especially at poker, she, always, managed to leave with more of her friends’ money than she came with.

For her family and friends, Pat sought to create a loving, inviting, and nurturing home environment. She loved to cook. Indeed, when she made her cinnamon swirl bread, the whole house smelled like heaven. Always able to pull a meal together at a moment’s notice whenever friends or family came to visit, she made sure no one ever left her house hungry! Pat and Tom threw great parties, pig roasts, and family gatherings, all seemingly with no effort. Surrounded by friends and family, they, always, appeared to be having the most fun of anyone. Recently, Pat was delighted to share selected SnapChat pictures with her grandkids which always made her giggle.

Pat is survived by her sons, Steve Schuler, and his wife, Rose Ann, and Shane Schuler, and his wife, Jonna; her daughters: Barb Anderson, and her husband, Skoog; Patti McKenna, and her husband, Jon; Mindy Demers, and her partner Paul Anderson; and Kelly Schuler, and her husband, Rod Snavely; along with a total of sixteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

Pat was preceded in death by the love of her life, Tom; an infant son, Jon; her daughter, Cindy Molgaard; her son-in-law, Ed Demers; her parents, Calvin and Rose Belcher; and her siblings: Paul, Mark, and Jack Belcher; Mary Ann Hart; Katie Hughes; and Joey Zimmer.

A special thanks to Pat’s health care angels: Cindy, Morgana, Kelly, Nancy, Liz, and Teresa as well as the staff at Methodist Manor and Unity Point Hospice. While the earth got dimmer on Friday January 18, 2019, with Pat’s death, heaven just got a whole lot brighter! Let the party in heaven begin!
