Marjorie A. Friedrichsen, age 85, of Schaller, Iowa, died on Saturday, January 26, 2019, in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The first daughter of Vernon and Inez (Collenbaugh) Buehler of Schaller, Iowa, Marjorie was born on April 5th, 1933, in Battle Creek, Iowa. She attended school in Schaller, graduating in 1950. Next, Marge continued her studies at Iowa State Teachers College (University of Northern Iowa), earning a teaching certificate in 1952. Then, in 1973, she completed a bachelor’s degree at Buena Vista College.

On August 21, 1954, Marge married Donald Friedrichsen of Battle Creek at the Methodist Church in Schaller. At first, they lived in Battle Creek where she taught elementary school until the birth of their first son, Scott, in 1956. Their second son, Douglas, joined the family in 1958, followed by a daughter, Peggy, in 1960. Don and Marge remained in Battle Creek until 1964 when they moved to Schaller to work the family farm. Before returning home to raise her children, Marge taught elementary school in Truesdale for several years. In the fall of 1976, she went back into education, teaching fifth grade in Schaller until she retired in 1994.

Before her passing, Marge belonged to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Schaller. Some of her favorite pastimes included attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, especially their drama performances in the South Sioux City area. She, also, enjoyed playing bridge and attending Red Hat Society and Daughters of the American Revolution activities. She loved traveling throughout the country with Don, her daughter, Peggy, and her sister, Mary Walton. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Marge will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Marjorie’s family includes her children, Scott, and his wife, Debbie, of Schaller, Doug, and his wife, Lisa, of Ridgedale, Missouri, and Peg Foxhoven, and her husband, Ron, of Lincoln, Nebraska; four grandchildren: Amanda Tomes, and her husband, Zac, Brittney Palmer, and her husband, Justin, Callie Foxhoven, and Kelsey Friedrichsen; a great granddaughter, Lily Tomes; her brother, Dale Buehler, and his wife, Karen, of West Des Moines, Iowa, her sisters, Mary Walton and her husband Melvin of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Florence Desmond of Pomona, California; and her sister-in-law, Florence Buehler, of Storm Lake, Iowa, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

Those preceding Marjorie in death include Don, her husband of forty-seven years; her parents; her brother, William Buehler; and her grandson, Aaron Friedrichsen.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Schaller. Burial will follow in the Schaller Cemetery in Schaller. Visitation will take place Friday, February 1, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in SCHALLER. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller is charge of the arrangements.
