Everett Leon Lenhart
June 23, 1926 – September 26, 2018

Everett Leon Lenhart, son of Fay Alfred and Iva Myrtle (Totman) Lenhart, was born on June 23, 1926, at Storm Lake, Iowa. Along with his siblings, he spent his youth on his parent’s farm near Storm Lake. Thus, at a n early age, he began helping his Dad with chores around the farm. He developed a passion for country life and farming in general, a love that remained with him his entire life. After attending the local country school through the eighth grade, he completed two years of high school in Storm Lake.

In September of 1950, Everett left Storm Lake to serve his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. Released from active duty in 1952, he transferred to the ERC (Enlisted Reserve Corps) for the next five years. Next, on February 8, 1953, he married Phyllis Irene Davis at the First Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Five children were born to this union: Alan, Brian, Linda, Rita, and Joni. They began their new life together living in Storm Lake while farming for friends before eventually moving to a farm of their own. After years of farming, Everett began working at Case Machinery in Storm Lake. Then, in 1971, he and Phyllis moved to Arizona where he worked for a dairy operation. In 2002, after thirty-one years in Arizona, he and Phyllis retired, moving back to Iowa and settling in Hartley. There, he joined the United Methodist Church. Moreover, he had time to do what he loved most – visiting with friends and spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

Everett passed from this life on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at the age of 92. Those preceding him in death include his parents, Fay and Iva Lenhart; his sisters: Lauraine, Darlene, Ruth Ann, and Delores (in infancy); his brothers, Leonard and Darrell; and his great-grandson, Camden Erickson-Cotter.

Those thankful for having shared his life include his wife of sixty-five years, Phyllis, of Hartley; his children: Alan (Lauriena) Lenhart, of Payson, Arizona, Brian Lenhart, of Hartley, Linda (Abel) Solis, of Queen Creek, Arizona, Rita (Greg) Cotter and Joni (Adam) Lux, both of Hartley; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and many friends.
