Jody Hocking, age 57, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Monday, September 3, 2018, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Jody, a son of Ralph and Roma (Fahan) Hocking, was born on March 25, 1961, in Cherokee, Iowa. In his youth, he attended grade school in Cherokee. He would, later, graduate from Washington High School in Cherokee. Next, he furthered his education at the Spencer School of Business where he earned an associate’s degree. For twenty years, Jody volunteered with the Storm Lake Fire Department. In his free time, he enjoyed DJ’ing, Hawkeye football, and NASCAR. In addition, he participated in bowling and golfing leagues.

Those left to cherish his memory include his significant other, Amy Badertscher; his children: Justin (April Connolly) Hocking, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Jaimie Hocking, of Perry, Iowa; his step-children: Cara (Tyler) Pedersen, of Alta, Iowa, and Jarren (Jessica) Badertscher, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his brother, John Hocking, of Livermore, Iowa; his sister, Judith Hocking, of Paullina, Iowa; and his grandchildren: Mary and Kyler Connolly and Parker, Brock, and Addison Pedersen, all of Alta, Iowa. Jody was preceded in death by two sisters, Jacque Hocking Puhrmann and Barbara Hocking; and his parents, Ralph “Short” & Roma (Fahan) Hocking.

A Time of Gathering will take place on Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
