Phyllis Ann Chindlund, a daughter of Frances (Langner) and Conrad Chindlund, was born on July 3, 1935, in Storm Lake, Iowa. Baptized as an infant and later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, she attended the Storm Lake public school and graduated from Fairview High in 1953.

On September 27, 1953, she married Merrill Rehnstrom, her high school sweetheart. Subsequently, they were blessed with three children: Craig, Cherri, and John. Phyllis and Merrill worked hand in hand on the farm as she enjoyed staying home and raising their children.

A member of the Neighborhood Busy Bee Club, Phyllis, also, belonged to the Center Grove Evangelical Free Church for many years. There, she taught Sunday School, led the vacation Bible school, and actively participated in the women’s ministry. After the Center Grove Evangelical Free Church closed, she joined the Hope Evangelical Free Church in Storm Lake.

In her spare time, Phyllis liked gardening, baking, and admiring antiques. In addition, she enjoyed riding through the countryside in her car enjoying the beauty of God’s creation. Moreover, she treasured her family and she found solace in living within eight miles of her children. Lovingly, remembered as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she will be, deeply, missed by all who knew and loved her.
