Lavonne (Story) Kleaveland, a daughter of John and Ethel (Phillips) Ginger, was born on February 6, 1930, in Primghar, Iowa. Baptized and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church, she spent her childhood years in Sutherland, Iowa, where she received her education and graduated from Sutherland High School in 1948. Moreover, during her high school years, she worked at the telephone office in Sutherland.

Lavonne married Charles Virgil Story on January 22, 1949. To their union two daughters were born: Julee Marie and Janice Elaine. After their wedding, Lavonne worked at the State Bank of Peterson for twenty-three years. A member of the United Methodist Church in Peterson, she served in many capacities including on the Building Committee for the new church. In addition, she served on the Peterson Town Council. After Charles passed away on February 22, 1992, she married Rodney C. Kleaveland in 1995. As fate would decide, Rodney passed away on May 9, 2015.

Lavonne enjoyed traveling, having gone on trips to Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America and wintered in McAllen, Texas. She, also, enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and golfing. Most of all, however, she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lavonne passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018, at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Charles, and her second husband, Rodney; her daughter, Julee, on January 13, 1984; and three sisters: Darlene Einerwold, Irene Warburton, and Marjory Engelke.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Janice (Brian) Drzycimski, of Alta, Iowa; a son-in-law, LeRoy (Rosita) Hieb, of Carlsbad, California; four grandchildren: Staci (Steven) Mullinnix, of Dallas, Texas, Dustin (Stephanie) Drzycimski, of Alta, Iowa, Andrew (Tami) Hieb, of Ramona, California, and Melissa Wolfinger, of Torrance, California; her great grandchildren: Warren, Elaine, Harvey, and Luther Mullinnix; Emily and Kramer Drzycimski; Aubri, Andrew, Jr, Seraphina, and Scarlett Hieb; and Alexis, Madeline, and Trevor Wolfinger; a stepson, David Kleaveland, of Pierre, South Dakota, and a step son-in-law, Jim Wischmeyer, of Webb, Iowa; as well as other relatives and friends.

SERVICES: Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Peterson, Pastor Kim Dewey officiating.

VISITATION: Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., on Monday, May 14, 2018, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., at the Warner Funeral Home in Peterson, Iowa.

MUSIC: "Amazing Grace," and "How Great Thou Art." Soloist: Ryan Brown; ORGANIST: Gloria Terrell.

INTERMENT: Oakland Cemetery, Peterson, Iowa.
