Edna F. Lill
September 9, 1924 - March 24, 2018

A long-time resident of Storm Lake, Edna F. Lill, age 93, of Sussex, Wisconsin, died on Saturday, March 24, 2018.

Edna Lill was born in rural Washta, Iowa, on September 9, 1924, to Andrew and Laura (Kuhl) Myrtue. Growing up, she attended country school at Douglas #6. On June 15, 1945, she married Louis Lill. Subsequently, they had twin sons, Douglas and Dennis. Over the years, she had many jobs but is mostly remembered for her twenty-three years as a meter maid in Storm Lake. An excellent dancer, she, later, taught dance in her Storm Lake home. Indeed, she and Louis would gather a crowd when they took to the dance floor at The Cobblestone in Lakeside.

After her marriage ended, Edna lived for many years in Lakeside where she entertained family and friends on a regular basis in her home. This tradition continued after she moved to Storm Lake. Indeed, she, always, made her home a hub for family and friends.

After her oldest grandson, Randy Lill, and his family moved to Portland, Oregon, with their newborn son, Brandon, Edna began spending extended periods of time there. She formed a strong bond with her great-grandson that remains today. Next, Edna moved to Dallas, Texas, to live with her other grandson, Brad Lill. Then, in 2005, when Brad moved with his family to the area near Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she moved right along with them.

On May 22, 2014, while she was on the phone for her daily call with her beloved sister-in-law, Georgie Myrtue, she fell and broke her hip. After a hospital stay, she moved to the Manorcare Pewaukee Nursing Home for the care she needed for her remaining years.

Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Merle Myrtue; her grandsons, Randy (Robyn) Lill, and Brad (William Goodwin) Lill; her great-grandchildren, Brandon Lill, Isabelle Lill, and Cerabeth and Jonathan Goodwin; as well as her many nieces and nephews who adored their “Aunt Ed.”

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Laura Myrtue, her sons, Dennis and Douglas Lill, her daughter-in-law, Jean Lill; her sister, Della Gebers; her husband, Don; her brother, Soren Myrtue; her sister, Joyce Stamp; and her sister-in-law, Georgie Myrtue.

Funeral services for Ms. Lill will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home, 1615 West Milwaukee Street, Storm Lake, Iowa. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Holstein Cemetery.
