Timothy Bedel
April 8, 1949 - February 22, 2018

A joyous event occurred on April 8, 1949, when twins Timothy and Anthony Bedel were born to Marian and Gontran “Doc” Bedel in Carroll, Iowa. A gloom, however, has, now, settled upon us since, after a short illness, Tim, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center.

The Bedel family lived in Early, Iowa, before moving to Storm Lake when Tim’s father opened Bedel's Drive-in Pharmacy. Growing up, Tim attended both St. Mary’s Catholic School and the Storm Lake Public School. Always the first one to give a friendly greeting and a firm pat on the back, Tim relished his many interactions with friends and community members. Well-known for his wonderful sense of humor and insightful wit, he remained a joy all his life.

His pleasures included riding his horse, driving golf carts, riding his motorcycle, collecting model cars and Batman memorabilia, and bowling with his friends. He enjoyed outings with his family and the Genesis Development staff. Indeed, he valued the camaraderie of his fellow workers at Genesis and the care and friendship of Genesis staff members.

Baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith, he was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. An inspirational representative of a kind soul who endured pain without complaint, he never entertained the trivial cares and concerns that many of us have.

Truly blessed to have had him in their lives, his family who mourn his passing include his brothers: Patrick, Dan, and Tony (Marilee) Bedel, of Storm Lake; his nephews, Anthony (fiancé, Maryel Ley) of San Francisco, California, and Jack, of San Diego, California; and his niece, Elizabeth, of Kansas City, Missouri.

Welcoming him to his heavenly home are his parents, Gontran and Marian; his brother, Michael; and his nephew, Adam.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 26, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be designated to Genesis Development, 1607 Lake Avenue, Storm Lake, Iowa 50588. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
