Savay Sounnarath
January 1, 1942 - January 24, 2018

Savay Sounnarath, age 76, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

A son of Thithom and Kai Sounnarath, Savay Sounnarath was born on January 1, 1942. On August 1, 1970, he married Bounhong Khompabay in Laos. Subsequently, they were blessed with seven children: Khamphong, Souvanyong, Khongchay, Kaykeo, Leokham, Lumngern, and Landen. In his spare time, Savay loved relaxing. He, also, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Bounhong Sounnarath, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his children: Khamphong Sounnarath, of Napheang, Laos; Lumngern and Souvanyong Sounnarath, of Vientiane, Laos; Khongchay and Leokham Sounnarath, of Napheany, Laos; Kaykeo Sounnarath, of Worthington, Minnesota; and Landen Sounnarath, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his grandchildren; his brother, Phoutone Southiphong, of Worthington, Minnesota; and his sister, Noy Sounnarath, of California; as well as extended family members and friends. Savay was preceded in death by his parents, Thithom and Kai Sounnarath.

Traditional Buddhist Rites will be held Sunday, January 28, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Storm Lake Cemetery on Monday, January 29, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will take place Saturday, January 27, 2018, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
