October 8, 1952 - February 3, 2018

Shelly Lee Richardson McManus was born on October 8, 1952, in Glendale, California, and left to join Jesus February 3, 2018, dying peacefully in her home.

Her parents, Robert W. and Bonnie Richardson raised her in Des Moines, Iowa, before the family moved to Fonda, Iowa, in 1971. After graduating from Lincoln High School in Des Moines, Iowa, she earned an Associates of Arts from Des Moines Area Community College.

On May 17, 1975, Shelly married Dennis James McManus at the First Assembly of God in Storm Lake, Iowa. She worked as an administrator at the Fonda Care Center. A devoted disciple of Jesus from her youth, she participated in a prayer counseling ministry. In addition, she sang in the church choir and performed in church musicals. She a had beautiful voice and could find harmonies whenever she sang. Toward the end of 1979, the family moved to Bradenton, Florida, where Shelly enjoyed the beach and watched her girls advance through high school and college. A fully devoted and very loving mother, she encouraged all that she met. Her sons-in-law, David Richardson and Brian Flowers, enjoyed her company and their talks with her. A loving daughter and sister, she, also, loved her time with her grandchildren. In 2008, Dennis and Shelly moved back to Fonda, Iowa. Everyone felt her warm love and will, always, remember her hugs.

Shelly is survived by her husband, Dennis McManus, of Fonda, Iowa; her two daughters, Sarah Richardson and her husband, David, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Renee Flowers and her husband, Brian, of Manchester, Tennessee; her grandchildren: Karis and Allison Richardson and Fischer and Phineas Flowers; her mother, Bonnie Richardson; and her siblings, Terry and Robert Richardson and Becky Sirigotis, as well as by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Friday, February 9, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Bible Christian Outreach Center in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place for one hour before the service at the church. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
