Norma M. Anderson, age 96, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died on January 16, 2018, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City.

Norma Marguerite (Geisinger) Anderson was born on July 27, 1921, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Oren and Fern (Samsel) Geisinger. She spent her childhood in the Cornell, Iowa, area on the family farm. In 1938, she graduated from Cornell High School. The following month, she started working for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Cherokee, Iowa, where she met Donald Anderson. They married on October 5, 1941, at the family farm. Shortly afterwards, our country became embroiled in World War II, and doing his part, Donald served in the South Pacific until 1945. After the War, Norma and Donald returned to make their home in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. There, they were blessed with three children: Judy, Paul, and Richard Todd.

A member of the First United Methodist Church, Norma sang in the church choir, served on many committees, and participated in the Woman’s Fellowship. A fifty-year member of the Eastern Star, she served in numerous posts in that organization as well. As a member of the Little Sioux Golf and Country Club, she played in the Ladies League. She, also, enjoyed playing cards with several groups and participated in many other clubs.

Proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; two brothers, Gerald and Bruce; and one sister, Ruth Thomson, Norma is survived by her children: Judith Vincent, Paul (Cheryl) Anderson, and Richard Todd Anderson, all of Linn Grove, Iowa; her grandchildren: Chuck (Wendy) Vincent, of Sommerville, South Carolina; Beth (Kevin) Saalwaechter, of Spring, Texas; Laura and Linda Anderson, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; Katie (Pete) Kragel, of Marathon, Iowa; Aaron (Sarah) Anderson, of Linn Grove, Iowa; Mark (Robin) Anderson, of Oskaloosa, Iowa; and Chad Anderson, of Grimes, Iowa; and her great grandchildren: Taylor, Trev, and Tucker Kragel; Maggie, Finn, and Arlo Anderson; and Miles Vincent; as well as by nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Services will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
