Don Moser
October 3, 1916 - November 4, 2017

Don Moser, age 101, of Omaha, Nebraska, and formerly of the Storm Lake area, left this world peacefully at the Brookstone Village in Omaha on November 4, 2017.

Born in Alta, Iowa, on October 3, 1916, to Phillip and Emma (Olson) Moser, Don graduated from Alta High School in 1934 and then from a business school in Sioux City, Iowa. Next, he worked in office sales, played fast pitch softball, and taught ballroom dancing. He entered the Army, fighting in the Philippines as a decorated officer during WWII. Upon his return, he married Irene Mohr on April 6, 1947. Three children were born to their union: Susan, Steven, and Jay.

Don and Irene lived in both Albert City and Alta during this time while Don worked as a livestock buyer for Hygrade Meats. In addition, for a number of years in the 1960s, he owned a men’s clothing store. Otherwise, he and Irene spent their time raising their children which included hours of basketball, fried chicken family dinners every Sunday, and evening gatherings with friends for bridge or dancing. After Irene passed in 1995, Don married Jolene Bauman with whom he enjoyed many more happy days in the Storm Lake area continuing to do all the activities he loved.

Don loved gardening, golfing (albeit challenged in his later years to hit the ball accurately), playing card games, and dancing. Moreover, he loved his family and friends. He made people feel good and smile at life. Indeed, the world is a better place because Don was here.

Don is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Lyle, who passed at the age of 2, and Carroll; and his wives, Irene and Jo. Those left with the best memories ever include his daughter, Susan, and her husband, Jeff; and his sons, Steve, and his wife, Kris, and Jay, and his wife, Liz, as well as eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place during the hour before the service at the funeral home. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
