James Dusing
May 19, 1931 - October 13, 2017

James “Jim” Dusing, age 86, of Fonda, Iowa, died on Friday, October 13, 2017, in Fonda.

Jim, a son of Charles C. and Emma (Schroeder) Dusing, was born on May 19, 1931, in Albert City, Iowa.

Baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux Rapids and later confirmed there as well, he attended grade school in Albert City and graduated from Ware High School. On August 16, 1951, he married Doris Meyer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Subsequently, they were blessed with seven children: Bonnie, Shirley, Emmy, Jane, Teresa, Steve, and Paula.

Over the years, Jim worked for various companies as a machinist, including Nobles in Sac City, Twin-Draulics in Laurens, Thompson Tool and Die in Fonda, and Nelson Products in Sioux Rapids. He retired in 1996 but was, always, willing to lend a helping hand to people in the area with their electrical and plumbing needs. Very involved in the Fonda community as well as a member of the Fonda Fire Department for thirty-five years, Jim assisted with the firemen’s water fights and participated on the football chain crew for the Fonda Community Schools.

In his spare time, Jim, most, enjoyed watching western movies, hunting, fishing, and playing cards, especially Pinochle, with family. Also an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, he followed their records religiously. Most of all, however, he loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be, deeply, missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of sixty-six years, Doris Dusing, of Fonda, Iowa; his son, Steve Dusing, of Fonda, Iowa; his daughters: Bonnie Walker and Shirley (Louis) Stauter, of Fonda, Iowa, Emmy (Michael) Walsh, of Phoenix, Arizona, Jane (John) Schoen, of Orlando, Florida, and Paula (David) Baase, of Macon, Missouri; his grandchildren: Megan and Zachary Baase; Gail (Steve) Blair; Bryant and Felica Dusing; Miranda (Matt) Madsen; Stephanie (Greg) Merlene; Charissa (Mitch) Mueller; Christina and Eric Schoen; Jason (Grandpa’s buddy and shadow) and Jeremiah (Jill) Stauter; Cassondra (Quinton) Stroman; Cory (Courtney) Walker; Joshua (Cynthia), Katrina, Michael (Carrie), and Zane (Tara) Walsh; his great grandchildren: McKenna Fassler; Kai and Leilani Johnson; Ally, Blake, and Johnny Madisen; Chance, Corbin, and Tyler Saathoff; Andrew and Hannah Schoen; Brady, Emma, and Mariah Stauter; AJ, Aubree, and DJ Stroman; Maeve, Maggie, Mary, and Mia Walker; Addie, Austin, Ellie, Hudson, Jocelyn, and Mallie Walsh; and his sister, Ester Brander, of Spencer, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Teresa Dusing Tischer; his grandson, Michael Stauter; his son-in-law, Dan Walker; his brothers, Lloyd and Charles Dusing; and his sisters, Marry Hibbs and Millie Glynn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Catholic Cemetery in Fonda. Visitation will take place Monday, October 16, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. followed by a receition os the rosary, all at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
