Dennis Larson
November 17, 1947 ~ September 18, 2017 (age 69)

Dennis Larson, age 69, of Rembrandt, Iowa, died on Monday, September 18, 2017, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

Dennis was born on November 17, 1947, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, to Gordon and Edna Larson. After graduating from Rembrandt High School in 1966, he enrolled at Iowa State University. In April 1968, he enlisted in the US Army and served two separate tours of duty in Vietnam between 1968 and 1971. Upon his discharge, he finished his degree at Iowa State, graduating in 1974 with a degree in accounting. He would go on to obtain a CPA license.

Dennis married Susan Jane Millard in 1976. To their union, two children were born, Erica and Joseph Larson. He, also, adopted two daughters, Melanie Larson Winblade and Mary Jane Bunnell. Besides working at Rosene, Pickhinkie & Peters as a CPA, he farmed until he retired earlier this year, having lived and worked his entire life in the Rembrandt area. An avid Iowa State Cyclone fan, Dennis, also, enjoyed golf and the outdoors. He found his greatest joy in life, however, while spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Erica Larson, and his parents, Gordon and Edna Larson. Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Joe (Keisha) Larson, of West Des Moines, Iowa; his daughters, Melanie Larson Winblade, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Mary Jane (Troy) Bunnell, of Stover, Missouri; his brothers, Jim (Marcia) Larson, of Sioux Rapids, and Edwin (Sue) Larson, of Ingleside, Illinois, and Eric (Josephine) Larson, of Andover, Minnesota; and his sister, Anne (Ruth Stroud) Larson, of Blair, Nebraska; as well as nine grandchildren and countless friends.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rembrandt. Burial will follow in the Little Sioux Valley Lutheran Cemetery in Rembrandt. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
