November 22, 1935 - August 25, 2017

Bea Huntington, age 81, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Friday, August 25, 2017, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Shirley Berniece Boswell, a daughter of Elza and Mabel (Scott) Boswell, was born on November 22, 1935, in Adams County, Iowa. Baptized in 1953 at Mt. Etna Methodist Church, she attended school in Corning, graduating from Corning High School in 1954. On April 28, 1956, she married Glen Huntington at the Corning Methodist Church. Subsequently, they were blessed with four children: Debra, Kandra, Barbra, and Tyler.

A member of the United Methodist Church in Alta, Bea served as the United Methodist Women’s Treasurer. Moreover, she belonged to P.E.O. Chapter GB in Alta where she, also, served as treasurer. An avid duplicate bridge card player, she would take advantage of any opportunity to play. Otherwise, in her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, especially to National Historic Lodges throughout the United States. In addition, she loved playing golf and entertaining family and friends. Needless to say, she loved spending time with her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Glen Huntington, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her children: Debra (Mark) Sherwood, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kandra (John) Dickerson, of Des Moines, Iowa, Barbra (Kevin) Klein, of Urbandale, Iowa, and Tyler (Linda) Huntington, of Perry, Iowa; her grandchildren: Amber and Aaron (fiancée, Lisa McLain) Anderson; Lindsey and Kasandra Dickerson; Jennifer (Kyle) Gerber; Gabrielle, Brooke and Addison Huntington; Dustin and Kelsey Klein; and Jeremy (Amy) and Ryan Sherwood; her great grandchildren: Jaxon, Kaylie, Madison, McKenzie, and Weston Gerber; Rayne and Canyon Kelso; and Kinnick, Paxton, Tate, and Whittaker Sherwood; her brother, Clarence (Bobby) Boswell, of Cumberland, Iowa; her sisters, Laura (Warren) Johnston, of Bridgewater, Iowa, and Alice (John) Burchard, of Omaha, Nebraska; and her sister-in-law, Blondie Boswell, of Greenfield, Iowa; as well as nieces; nephews; cousins; extended family members; and friends.

Bea was preceded in death by her parents, Elza and Mabel Boswell; and her brothers, Albert (Tootsie) and Orval Boswell.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Alta. Visitation will take place Tuesday, August 29, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Alta. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Alta, the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Foundation, or the ALS Association of Iowa. The Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home in Alta is overseeing the arrangements.
