The Life Story of GRACE RICKLEFS

Grace Nancy (Hartsock) Ricklefs, daughter of Virgil Hartsock and Emma Montgomery, was born Aug 15, 1906 at Deepwater, Mo. She was baptized Into the Christian faith in Nov 1906 at the Deepwater Presbyterian church On March 31, 1940 Grace was confirmed in the Christian faith at St Paul's Lutheran church, Ireton.

Grace spent her childhood and early professional years in the Deepwater area , teaching school until her marriage to Garrett Ricklefs on Oct 16, 1937 at Deepwater Following their marriage the Ricklefs moved to the rural Ireton area where Garrett and Grace farmed until 1958. Ill health forced Garrett to give up farming, so he and Grace moved to Sheldon where Garrett took up residence in a health care manor. He resided there until his life's end in Jan. 1975.

In 1970 Grace moved to Storm Lake, becoming an active member of St John's Lutheran church. She served on Altar Guild, helped in the church office, taught Sunday school, was active in Lydia Society, Mission Sewing, and a Bible Study Guild. Grace was also Involved in Meals on Wheels and gave assistance to handicapped children for many years.

Grace Nancy (Hartsock) Rlcklefs was called from this life on Feb. 16, 1980 reaching the age of 73 years, six months and one day.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents and her husband and also one sister Maude (Hartsock) Cook and one brother, Glenn.

Those left to mourn her passing are one daughter, Dorcas, Mrs. Leonard Hartje of rural Storm Lake; two sons, David and Daniel of Storm Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Louise (Hartsock) Rlead of Clinton, Mo. and Miss Ruth Hartsock of Marshall, Mo.; five grandchildren, Hadley, Ryan and Kyle Hartje and Michelle and Danelle Ricklefs, all of Storm Lake area, and other relatives and friends.

Services were Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 1 p.m. at St John's Lutheran church with the Rev Harvey Hendrickson officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Vernon Winterhof at the organ.

Pall bearers were Rudy Ward, Darwin Lussman, Arthur Hintz, Kenneth Pagel. Otis Hansen, and Russell Biggins. Interment was In the Storm Lake cemetery under direction of the Sliefert Funeral Home
