Helen J. Welch
July 8, 1928 - August 17, 2017

Surrounded by her children, Helen J. Welch, 89, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017, in Berthoud, Colorado. Helen was born on July 8, 1928, to Francis and Margaret Young in Paullina, Iowa. She lived many years of her life in Storm Lake, Iowa, where she taught high school English for nearly forty years. On June 2, 1952, she married Ralph Welch. Subsequently, they had three children. Ralph died before her in 2011.

Helen loved to garden and to play Bridge with her many friends. Always willing to lend support and understanding, she had a kind and humble heart. A member of the D.A.R. and P.E.O, she always had a positive outlook on life, even during her years battling Parkinson’s.

Helen is survived by her three children: Todd (Lori) Welch, of Berthoud, Colorado, Chad (Mary Joe) Welch, of Longmont, Colorado, and Annie (Scott) Blessing, also of Longmont, Colorado; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and her brother, Fred (Gayle) Young, of Georgia. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and an older sister.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary.
