Anita Roeder, age 77, of Wall Lake, Iowa, died on Monday, July 6, 2009, at Twilight Acres in Wall Lake.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at the United Methodist Church in Odebolt, Iowa, under the direction of the Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend Terry Pollard officiated, with burial following in the Storm Lake Cemetery.

Anita Virginia Roeder was born on June 8, 1932, in Pender, Nebraska, a daughter of Carl and Martha (Borchers) Witte. She grew up and received her education in Pender, graduating from high school with the Class of 1950.

On March 25, 1951, Anita married Douglas Kane. They lived in the Pilger and Wayne, Nebraska, area before moving to Odebolt, Iowa, in 1972. In due course, they were blessed with five children, Terry, Susan, Kristi, Marty, and Mick. Anita later married George Roeder.

A member of the United Methodist Church in Odebolt, Anita enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, gardening, and baking, but she found her greatest joy in her grandchildren. For nearly twenty years, she was employed as a photographer and sales associate at the Odebolt Chronicle. After suffering a brain aneurysm in 1996, she moved to Twilight Acres in Wall Lake where she had since resided.

Survivors include her children, Terry Kane, Susan (Mrylon) Kizer, of Storm Lake, Kristi (Bill) Wollesen, of Lake View, Iowa, Marty (Lisa) Kane, of Lexington, Kentucky, and Mick (Terri) Kane, of Hinsdale, Illinois; two step-sons, Dean (Dawn) Roeder, of Arthur, Iowa, and Paul (Sue) Roeder, of Odebolt, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Harlan (Patricia) Witte, of Pender, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
