Former Resident Dies

Mr. Wallace Emerson, a resident of this city in the early ‘50’s died in Chicago on Thursday, and the body was brought to Lamont, Ia., for interment on Sunday. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at that place, and interment made in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Emerson was born in Aurora, N. Y., seventy-eight years ago, and came to Dubuque in 1853. He operated a stage between this city and Millville for a number of years, and was well known to the early residents of the city. His brothers, Squire Emerson, was a sheriff of Dubuque for a number of years, and was very well known here. Mr. Emerson removed to a farm near Manchester after leaving here, and resided there until six years ago, when feeble health forced him to retire. He has since made his home in Chicago with his daughter.

Three children mourn his death, Mrs. Delia Martin and Nelson of Chicago, and Wesley of Oakland, Cal. Mrs. Martin and Mr. Nelson Emerson accompanied the remains to Lamont.
