Eugene R. Fisher, 85, of Jesup, IA, died on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at his home in Jesup, IA.

Eugene was born on March 19, 1937, in Walker, IA, the son of Earl and Cleora (McMartin) Fisher. He was raised in Jesup, IA, and was a 1954 graduate of Jesup High School. In 1955, he joined the United States Air Force where he served proudly as an air traffic controller. Eugene left the service in 1958 and started working at United Trucking Service in MI. Eugene married Jeanne Lagimodiere at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial in MI, on September 6, 1975. For several years they made their home in Detroit before moving back to Jesup in the early 1980s. He worked at the Jesup Farmers Coop, then Waterloo Lumber, and later was a salesman with Building Products Incorporated (BPI). He retired in 1999 from BPI and started working for the United States Postal Service in Jesup. Eugene was also a Test Proctor for Hawkeye Community College from 2002 to 2004.

Eugene enjoyed spending time outdoors camping, fishing, and boating with his family and friends, and was an avid photographer, fisherman, and skilled sailor.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Fisher, Jesup, IA, a son, Vince (Becky) Bauer-Fisher, Waverly, IA, a daughter, Jacqui (Wayne) Coulter, Modesto, CA, six grandchildren, Amanda (Brent) Engelkes, Chelsea Bauer-Fisher, David Wilhelm, Christine (Jeremy) Davis, Sabrina Coulter, and Matt (Caitlin) Coulter, and three great-grandchildren, Emilie, Max, and Harrison.

Eugene is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Cleora Fisher, a brother, Robert Fisher, and two sisters, Patricia “Pat” Benorden and Fran Gaylord.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
