JERRY B. BONEFAS Quasqueton Jerry B. Bonefas, 68, of Quasqueton, Iowa, died on June 24, 2021, at the North Brook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Jerry was born on Nov. 9, 1952, in Independence, Iowa, the son of Burton J. and Rose C. (Amfahr) Bonefas. He grew up in Jesup, Iowa, and attended the Jesup Community School. He went to work at John Deer in Waterloo, Iowa, for a short time, before he went into construction. Jerry loved to build things and spent many years working for the Dave Schmitt Construction Company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He also loved to help family and friends. He spent a lot of time helping at Olsen's Auto Salvage in rural Quasqueton. He finally retired in 2015. Jerry like to stay busy with his hands. He enjoyed working in his yard, and spent many hours upkeeping his lawn and garden. He loved to get together with his friends to laugh and play Euchre. Most recently, he liked to "gravel travel" for hours, just to find himself. He is survived by his children, Shanelle "Shani" (Shawn Staley) Bonefas, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jay (Rachael) Bonefas, Marion, Iowa, Paul (Miranda McDoungh) Bonefas, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Cassie Bonefas, Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Bryce and Trevor Hepker, Ellie, Ethan Alexandra, Cade and Maelynn Bonefas; his brothers and sisters; John (Sue) Bonefas, Rosemary (Paul) Gilson, Karen (Kraig) Emick, Kay (Klem) Delagardelle, Linda (Ted) Hollenbeck, Connie (Steve) Maynard, Betty (Rick) Watson, Butch (Jolene Christensen) Bonefas and Diane Bonefas; and many nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Burton and Rose Bonefas; and a brother, Larry Bonefas. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, at the Reiff Family Center-Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, Iowa.
