Mark Demchik, 59, of Quasqueton, IA, died on Sunday May 16, 2021 at his home in Quasqueton, IA following a long battle with cancer.

Mark was born on November 14, 1961, in Cleveland, OH, the son of Edward and Barbara (Michaud) Demchik. He attended the Medina Community Schools and was a 1979 graduate of Medina High School in Medina, OH. Mark went on to study Culinary Arts at the Medina County Carrier Center. On October 19, 1984 he married Lisa Grebe in Medina, OH. They made their home in Medina were Mark worked at various restaurants for many years. Lisa and Mark were divorced in 1987.

In 2006, Mark moved to Rowley, IA and married Kelly Buchtela. He began working at Weiland and Sons Lumber Co. in Winthrop, IA and quickly became family with everyone that worked there. He also worked as a cook and bartender at the Bottom’s Up Bar in Rowley where he made many friends.

Mark is survived by a grandson, Benjamin Meszar Jr, two brothers, Dwyane (Terri) Demchik, Clevland, OH, and James Demchik, Pittsburg, PA, a sister, Dawn (Kevin) Lowry, Glasgow, KY, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Barbara Demchik, a daughter, Jennifer Walter, and a brother, James Kozimor.

A Visitation will be held from 2 PM until 4 PM on Saturday May 22, 2021 at the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA.
