Robie G. Thompson, Jr., 68, of Grand Prairie, Texas and formerly of Oelwein, Iowa died on Monday afternoon, May 10, 2021 at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home,

Oelwein with Rev. Wayne Wilks & Rev. Jon Dunn officiating.

Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday and for one hour before the service on Saturday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein.

Interment: Hazleton (Fontana) Cemetery, Hazleton, Iowa.

Memorials will be directed to the Gateway Grand Prairie Church Campus.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic everyone is asked to wear a mask and social distance at the visitation and funeral.

Robie Gene Thompson, Jr. was born on February 26, 1953 in Oelwein, Iowa the son of Robie Gene Thompson, Sr., and Patricia Ellen (Netcott) Thompson. He graduated from Oelwein High School in the class of 1971. He continued his education studying electronic engineering at Hawkeye Tech Community College in Waterloo, completing a writing major in English and a minor in sociology at the University of North Texas, completing an Associate of Arts degree at Dallas Mountain View Campus, by studying network technologies at SMU School of Engineering and Applied Science and by completing an Associate of Theology degree at Shady Grove Bible College. Robie lived in Grand Prairie, Texas, where he worked at Aventiv Technologies. He passed away after a short illness.

Robie was an active and devoted Christian member of Gateway Grand Prairie Church Campus. He was a supporter of Grand Prairie’s Homeless Outreach Organization. Robie was a regular judge for area speech competitions. He self-taught himself how to read at age 4. Robie enjoyed all kinds of sports but especially baseball. He loved God, his family, his friends, old cars, good food, always joking around, like his Grandpa Netcott, traveling and Albanese chocolates.

Robie is survived by his Mother: Patricia Thompson of Oelwein; 3 Sisters: Susan Streeter of Oelwein and children: Chad Streeter, Melissa (Shawn) Mundell & family, Adam Streeter (Brooke Sanford) & family and Cody Johnson; Kristy (Bob) Dilts of Littleton and children: Crystal (Rick) Hayden & family, Scott Bentley & family and Amy Dilts and Annie (Joseph) Wilson of Valparaiso, Indiana, and children: Autumn (Ajay) Kanda Singh, Casey Wilson & family and Miann Wilson.

Robie was preceded in death by his father and grandparents: Paul & Leona Netcott and William & Hazel Thompson.
