Douglas R. “Doug” Arthaud, 59, of Hazleton, Iowa died Saturday afternoon, April 24, 2021 at his home.

Memorial Service: 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, Iowa.

Visitation: 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 27, 2021 and for one hour before the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Inurnment: St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Hazleton.

Due to recommendations from state and federal health officials during the COVID-19 pandemic, guests are required to wear a mask and social distance. We encourage relatives and friends not able to attend the service to reach out to the family by leaving a message on the funeral home web site, by mail, text or phone.

Douglas Robert Arthaud was born December 8, 1961 at Oelwein, the son of Robert Joseph and Patricia Gale (Dibble) Arthaud. He graduated from Oelwein Community Schools in Oelwein. Over the years Doug was employed as a farmer, electrician and worked on an oil rig. He enjoyed gardening, fixing lawn mowers and bicycles, driving around in his truck and playing with his dog Zoey.

Doug is survived by his daughter: Alexandra Hillman (Katie Donnelly) of Oelwein; 5 grandchildren: twins: Brennon and Lexandra Fleming, Layla Arthaud, Carston Hillman and Kenndon Hillman; mother: Pat Arthaud of Hazleton; 2 sisters: Dianne (Mike) Loughren of Hazleton and Donna (Bill) Worst of Hudsonville, Michigan; brother-in-law: Dave (Charlene) Smock of Jesup; niece: Madeline Worst of Hudsonville, Michigan; and nephews: Bradly Loughren (Tasha Koopmans) of Marion and Ian Worst of Hudsonville, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1990; and sister: Denise Smock in 2006; grandparents: Frank and Velda (Bartels) Dibble and Cyril and Mabel (Damge) Arthaud; great grandmother: Lizzie Arthaud; and aunts and uncles: Jean and Floyd Graesch and Richard Rau.
