Dorothy E. Kunkle, 90, formerly of Oelwein, Iowa, died on Sunday morning, December 27, 2020 at Victoria Gardens Senior Living in Eureka, Missouri.

Funeral Service: 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 2, 2021at Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein, with Rev. Josh Schunk officiating.

Visitation: 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the church.

Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein, Iowa.

Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, is assisting the family.

Memorial Fund: Leukemia Foundation & American Heart Association.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings and the recent surge in the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing will be required. Those in attendance are required to wear a mask. Dorothy Evelyn Beckner was born on August 6, 1930 in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of Harry Bernard & Wanda Viola (Murphy) Beckner. She graduated from Hazleton High School and then worked at the Waterloo Fruit Company. Dorothy was united in marriage to John Marlyn Kunkle on February 5, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein, Iowa. Dorothy and John farmed and also operated the Dairy Queen in Oelwein for 30 years and the Sharp Car Wash in Oelwein and Hazleton for 18 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein. Dorothy moved to Bridgeton, Missouri in March of 2009 and most recently had lived at Victoria Gardens Senior Living in Eureka, Missouri. Dorothy enjoyed dancing with her husband, playing pinochle, spending time with her family and keeping her house in decorative fashion.

Dorothy is survived by her 4 Children: Steve (Rita) Kunkle of Fredericksburg,

Julie Keniston of Waterloo,

Karen (Jonathan) Smith of Wildwood, Missouri &

Jennifer (Jay) Schumacher of Bridgeton, Missouri;

11 Grandchildren;

13 Great Grandchildren;

Brother: David (Joyce) Beckner of Independence and

Nieces & Nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband: John on June 10, 2012, grandson: Jason Kunkle, son-in-law: Harry Keniston, sister: Virginia Burke and brother: Robert Beckner.
