JESUP – Paul F. Demuth, 75, of Jesup, died at home Friday, Oct 9, of natural causes.

He was born Jan. 15, 1923, in Fox Township near Jesup. He married Cleone Josephine Reiter Sept 29, 1945, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo.

He served in the US. Navy during World War II and farmed for 28 years before retiring. He was also a partner of the B&B Farm Store for 10 years.

Survived by: his wife; five sons, James of Clarion, Tony and David, both of Amazonia, Mo., Fritz of Jesup and Ronald of Chicago; seven daughters, Barbara Sharp of Urbandale, Marilyn Schulte of Mount Vernon, Ruth Demuth of Cedar Rapids, Teresa Myers of Waukon, Rose Irlbeck of Dedham, Susan Tarasi of Ankeny and Pat Glassell of Fontanelle; 34 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Hittenmiller of Dyersville.

Preceded in death by: a grandson; five sisters, Ida Metcalf, Margaret Pember, Mary Commesser, Francis Hershberger and Bertha Fratzke; and four brothers, John, Frank, William and Raymond.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, with burial in the church cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342. Friends may call anytime today at White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a 3 p.m. parish rosary, 6:30 p.m. vigil and a 7:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary.

Memorials: may be directed to the St Athanasius School library and media center or the Divine Word Seminary in Epworth.
