Marlys Jean Federspiel, 69 years old of Jesup, IA, died Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, IA.

She was born October 26, 1949, at Cresco, IA, the daughter of Hubert Otto Ernst and Marjie Mae (Woellstein) Ernst. Following her educational years, she was united in marriage to Daniel Earl Federspiel on September 30, 1972, in Jesup, IA. Marlys had worked at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, and as a para professional at Jesup Community Schools. She also served 19 years as a volunteer on the Jesup Ambulance Service crew.

Marlys is survived by her husband, Dan of Jesup; three sons, Cliff (Bobbie) Federspiel of Jesup, Jamie (Brenda) Federspiel of DeWitt, IA, and Dan Federspiel of Jesup; 3 grandchildren, Chelsey (Derek) Hutchinson, Mitchell (Caitlyn) Federspiel, Kaylea Federspiel; one great grandson, Brayden Federspiel; and one sister, Pam Clark of Minneapolis, MN.

Her parents and two still born brothers, Jason Lee Ernst and Hubert Jay Ernst, preceded her in death.

Family services will be held with cremation following.

White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, is in charge of the arrangements.
