Ralph A. Gamm, 69, of Quasqueton, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Buchanan County Medical Center in Independence, Iowa.

Visitation: 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Arlington.

Service: 5:30 P.M. Saturday September 29, 2018 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Arlington by the Buchanan County Fire Department Honor Guard and the Aurora American Legion Post #435 Honor Guard.

Ralph Alan Gamm was born December 8, 1948, in Oelwein, Iowa, the son of Irwin A. and Miriam Francel (Buckman) Gamm. He graduated in the class of 1967 from Starmont High School, Arlington. Ralph proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. Ralph was united in marriage to Diana Rae Kimmerle on February 27, 1997 in Independence. They had been a couple for over 45 years. Ralph worked with Dale Buckman Construction in Aurora in the grain bin business and continue to run the business after Dale’s retirement until Ralph retired in 2000. Ralph had also worked numerous other jobs including seasonal work at the Aurora Elevator and driving the Aurora town snowplow for many years.

He was a member of the Aurora American Legion Post # 435 and the Aurora Fire Department where he had served as their chief. Ralph enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ralph is survived by his wife: Diana Gamm of Quasqueton;

3 Daughters: Robin (Gary) Gleiter of Aurora,

Tina (Scott) Dunbar of Cedar Falls &

Bobbi Jo (Robert) Chesler of Uniontown, Pennsylvania;

4 Granddaughters, 1 Grandson;

4 Great Granddaughters & 4 Great Grandsons;

5 brothers: Ronald (Sandy) Gamm of Marion,

Charles (Diana) Gamm of Chillicothe, Ohio,

David (Kim) Gamm of Aurora,

Daryl (Ruth) Gamm of Arlington and

Lee (Julia) Gamm of Arlington;

2 sisters: Barbara Passick of Aurora and

Sheryl (David) Layher of Cedar Rapids;

and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law: Robby Wayne Assman and a great grandson: Remington Assman.
