Patricia A. Rasmussen, 85 years old, of Rowley, Iowa, died on Friday, April 13, 2018, at ABCM Rehabilitation Center of Independence – West Campus in Independence. She was born in Stark, Illinois, on January 3, 1933, the daughter of James Henry and Grace Irene (Smith) Morrissey. She moved with her family to Rowley, Iowa, where she graduated from high school. On December 27, 1952, she and Ramon Lavern Rasmussen were married at St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence. He preceded her in death in 2012. Mrs. Rasmussen was an aide at the Mental Health Institute in Independence for 17.5 years before she retired in 1998. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence, the Catholic Daughters, and the Rosary Society. She was the type of person who was always looking for someone to help. Many friends and neighbors referred to her as “Grandma Pat”. And, people were known to drive for miles to collect one of her popcorn balls on Halloween.

Mrs. Rasmussen is survived by 5 sons, Michael (Lorrie) Rasmussen, Robert (Mickey Avis) Rasmussen, and Paul (Lisa) Rasmussen, all of Rowley, Iowa, Richard (Pam) Rasmussen of Independence, and Alan (Rose) Rasmussen of Winthrop, Iowa, and 3 daughters, Mary (Jeff) Blaness and Ann (Eric) Lamparter, both of Rowley, and Molly (Joel) Greenley of Independence. She is also survived by many grandchildren, many more great grandchildren, 1 sister, Peg (Jim) Baldwin of Hazleton, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter, Ruth Ann Rasmussen in infancy, and 3 sisters, Grace Kremer, Colleen Grover, and Marcile Love.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence. Rev. David Beckman will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in Rowley Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call for visitation from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17th at the White Funeral Home in Independence, where a Parish Rosary begins at 3 p.m.
