Brent D. Keil, 54 years old, of rural Independence, Iowa, died on Friday, February 23, 2018, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence. He was born on October 18, 1963, in Independence, the son of Dale Irwin and Charlene Diane Keil. He graduated from high school in Independence with the Class of 1982. In 1987 he completed the course of study for CAD certification at ITT Technical School in Madison, Wisconsin. At the time of his death he was a surveyor with WHKS in East Dubuque, Illinois. Mr. Keil enjoyed watching Iowa Hawkeye sporting events and the Chicago White Sox. His German shepherd, Casey, was also a big part of his life.

Mr. Keil is survived by his parents, Charlene and Dale Keil of Independence, 1 brother, Bruce (Danalee) Keil of Aquila, Arizona, 1 sister, Cindy (Philip) Hoole of Grinnell, Iowa, 9 nieces and nephews, and 13 great nieces and nephews.

His grandparents preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the Stanley Union Church in Stanley, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family.

White Funeral Home of Independence is in charge of arrangements.
