Arlys E. Kaune, 74, of Hazleton, Iowa died Friday morning, February 23, 2018 at the Oelwein Healthcare Center in Oelwein, Iowa.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, with Rev. Joshua Schunk officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday and for one hour before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein.

A Memorial Fund has been established for Fontana Park in Hazleton.

Arlys Evonne Kaune was born May 21, 1943 in Decorah, Iowa the daughter of Edgar & Bernice (Peterson) Stinson. She graduated from Decorah High School in the class of 1961. Arlys worked as a clerk at J.C. Penney in Decorah and later at Montgomery Wards in Oelwein. Arlys was united in marriage to Steven Albert Kaune on May 6, 1967 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein, Iowa. She continued her work at Wards until Arlys and Steve were blessed with the birth of their son, Michael, on January 18, 1974. Arlys was a longtime homemaker and took care of Mike while Steve worked. She enjoyed baking, cooking, watching television, traveling, spending time with her dog, Dan and playing cards and putting together puzzles with her granddaughter, Paityn. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Red Hat Society.

Arlys is survived by her Husband of 50 years: Steve Kaune of Hazleton;

Son: Michael (Tina) Kaune of Waverly;

Granddaughter: Paityn Kaune;

Step-Grandson: Blake Kruse;

Sister: Darlene (Ron) Makin of Bella Vista, Arkansas;

Brothers & Sisters-In-Law: Lois Schlatter of Grinnell,

Iva Jean Kaune of Fayette,

Marilyn (Tim) Darland of Independence,

Joann (Vaughn) Drewes of West Union &

Judy Kaune of Hazleton and

19 Nieces & Nephews.

Arlys was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws: Daryl & Jeannie Kaune, Robert Kaune, Harold Schlatter, Marvin Kaune & Laverne Kaune.
