Henry “Hank” L. Snyder, 79, of Independence, IA died Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, IA.

He was born March 5, 1938, in Hawkeye, IA son of Charles and Nellie (Howell) Snyder. He was a graduate of the High School in Hawkeye IA., and he enlisted into the United States Marine Corp. He served proudly until his retirement in 1956. Hank owned Hank’s Deep Rock Gas Station in Independence, and later worked for many years as the Fleet Supervisor at the Mental Health Institute in Independence, IA.

Hank is survived by , two daughters, Marquesa Snyder, Ankeny, IA, and Gordie Nuebauer, Cresco, IA, three sons Rick Snyder, Waukon, IA, Jeff Snyder, Cresco, IA, and Paul Renner, Dover, OH, several grandchildren, his fiancé Gloria Irving, Independence, IA, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Hank Jr. and Gary Snyder, three brothers; Charles Snyder Jr., Pete Snyder, and John Snyder, two sisters Bernice Snyder, and Maxine Snyder, and a son-in-law Michael Johnson.

A funeral service will be held at the Calvary Evangelistic Center in Independence, IA on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 10 AM with Rev. James Ganze Officiating. Burial will be held in Wilson Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 PM until 8 PM on Friday February 23, 2018 at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence.
