Lucille Barbara Hogan was born February 3, 1926 at Independence, Iowa ,the daughter of Mike and Kate Bovy Fischels. She attended school in Independence where she graduated from St. John’s High School.

Lucille was united in marriage to Cyril J. Hogan at St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence on September 10, 1947. To this union were born four children: David, Michael, Rose, and Marilyn. The family lived in the Winthrop area after their marriage. Lucille was a homemaker and also worked for at time at Wapsie Valley Creamery and Triangle Plastics. She was a dedicated member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Winthrop all her married life. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Lucille entered into her eternal rest on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Lexington Place in Independence. She was 90 years of age.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Cyril, her son-in-law Bill Hansen, three brothers: Vincent, Lawrence, and Jerry Fischels ; three sisters: Agnes Holbach, Virginia McElroy, and Leona Sebetka.

Survivors include her four children: David Hogan of Winthrop, Michael (Deb) Hogan of Winthrop; Rose Hansen of Winthrop; and Marilyn (Jim) Benesh of Marion; nine grandchildren: Aaron (Kim) Benesh, Eric Benesh, Jennifer (Amy) Hogan-Althoff, Bill (Trisha) Hansen, James Hansen, Dustin (Sara) Hogan , Brooke (Ben) Martens, Tiffany (Brent) Lenox, and Sara (Ben) Nielsen; one sister Dorothy Connolly of Independence; two brothers: Louis (Gertrude) Fischels of Independence and Michael Fischels of Independence; and one sister-in-law Margaret Fischels of Independence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 14, 2016 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at Winthrop with Father Donald J. Plamondon officiating. Music provided by Ann Slattery and St. Patrick’s Choir. Casketbearers will be grandchildren. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery at Winthrop.

Friends may call at Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop from 4 PM until 7 PM Wednesday and until 10 AM Thursday.
