Jesup – Marjorie V. Tonn, 90 years old of Jesup, IA, died Thursday, February 9, 2017, at New Aldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls, IA. She was born August 19, 1926 in Ithaca, MI, the daughter of Raymond L. Rhines and Margaret E. (Breece) Rhines. She graduated from Ithaca High School and then attended college at Spring Arbor, MI for one year. She later attended Greenville College at Greenville, Illinois. Upon moving to Iowa she worked as a clerk at Rath Packing in Waterloo from 1946 – 1951. On June 27, 1926, she was united in marriage to Paul Louis Tonn, Jr. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Independence, IA. They made their home in the Jesup area where she was a member of the American Lutheran Church. She also worked as a teacher’s aide with special needs students for the Area Education Agency at Jesup Community Schools.

Mrs. Tonn is survived by 4 sons, Paul (Carole) Tonn, III of Rapid City, SD, Gregory Tonn of Chino Valley, AZ, Michael (Jennifer) Tonn of Anchorage, AK, Jeffrey Tonn of Anchorage, AK; four daughters, Janice (Keith) Horgen of St. Ansgar, IA, Diane (David) Thorp of Hazelton, IA, Andrea (Doug) Dvorak of Clutier, IA, Linda (Bobby) Garrison of Evansdale, IA; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond (Lucille) Rhines of St. Louis, MI, Richard (Jean) Rhines of Cadillac, MI; and one sister, Rosemary Hayes of Phoenix, AZ.

Her parents; husband, Paul (2001); three brothers, Kenneth Robert and Glen Rhines; and four sisters, Alice Smith, Betty Denton, Rosemary Houseman, and Barbara Rhines (in infancy) preceded her in death.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. – Monday, February 13, 2017, at the American Lutheran Church, Jesup with burial at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup and for an hour before services Monday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
